In a shocking incident in the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, a husband allegedly killed his wife with a sharp weapon during a dispute over land on Friday, according to police reports.
Station Officer Santosh Mishra revealed that the victim, 45-year-old Chhotka Devi, was working in a paddy field with her husband, Chhote Lal, when the argument erupted. The couple owned some land, which the husband intended to sell, but the wife was opposed to the idea.
This disagreement escalated into a heated argument in the field, leading Chhote Lal to attack his wife with a sickle. The woman sustained severe injuries to her neck and face, resulting in significant blood loss and her immediate death at the scene.
Following the incident, the accused husband fled the location. Later in the afternoon, the couple's daughter, Karishma, returned from school and was horrified to find her mother's lifeless body in the field.
Upon receiving the information, Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Radheshyam Rai and a forensic team arrived at the scene to gather evidence. The police have recovered the blood-stained sickle from the site. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
